Eastman is on Fire! Not.
01.28.2008Posted by: Ben
On Saturday, Tricities.com featured a "breaking news" story on the home page that said Eastman was on fire and 6 people were dead. It was taken down about an hour later after it was realized to be a mistake. Apparently, this macabre event is an "example" news item that is used during training on adding online news.Ironically, I found this out in the print edition of the Bristol Herald Courier, but admirably the story is posted online. We've done our own training sessions for content management that affected "live" data and this story makes me think twice about how we go about that.
I'm just curious why they picked such a real-sounding event... I mean, it could have been anything...
BMS FILLED WITH WATER FOR GIANT SQUID VS SPERM WHALE FIGHT!
APPALACHIAN MAFIA BUSTED WITH GOJI JUICE!
SOMEONE ACTUALLY READS BLOG ENTRY TO THE END!
Or something equally implausible.
